5 Movies to Look Forward to in the Last Half of 2023

With 2023 half over we have gotten a lot of great movies, but there are still many to look forward to. This list will highlight 5 of the most anticipated movies yet to come out this year.

1. The Barbie Movie - July 21st

The Barbie movie comes out alongside another movie on this list, Oppenheimer. The two movies have been trending together under the hashtag barbenhimer. The Barbie Movie will be the first live action Barbie movie and has a star studded cast including Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Emma Mackie, Simu Liu and many more! It is direct by Greta Gerwig.

2. Oppenheimer - July 21st

Oppenheimer is a Christopher Nolan film which features Cillian Murphy as Robert Oppenheimer during WWII. The Movie explores the Manhattan project, Oppenheimer's work on it as well as the moral delemias it created and how it has changed the world to this day.

3. Blue Beetle - August 18th

Blue Beetle kicks off DC,s new universe, the DCU. It is based on the DC comics of course and looks to be a fun superhero orgin adventure which will hopefully serve as a good start to the new cinematic universe.

4. The Marvels - November 10th

The Marvels is the next theatrical installment in the MCU, the last one being Gaurdians of the Galaxy vol 3. The movie will follow Captain Marvel, Monica Rambo, and Ms Marvel, as well as feuturing Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. It is sure to be not only an important next step in the MCU, but a fun one.

5. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes - November 17th

Finally, the long awaited Hunger Games prequal based on the novel of the same name. This movie will follow Coriolanus Snow as a young boy, long before he became president of Panem and long before Katniss Everdeen was even born. The book does a lot of great world building and overall tells a good and engaging story, hopefully we can look forward to the movie translating these elements to film well.
