Ant-Man and The Wasp Quantumania, is it as Bad as Critics are Saying?

Updated: Aug 5, 2023

Ant-Man and The Wasp Quantumania has seen a steady decrease in it's Rotten Tomatoes score over the past 5 days. Starting in the high sixties it soon dropped to 48%. However, on Thursday the audience score was released and it strongly disagreed with critics, coming in at 84%. There seems to be a familiar tone at other review sites as well, very conflicting reviews.

My Review

So, who is right? After seeing the movie for myself, I will have to say I agree more with the audience on this one. Overall I would give the movie a 6.8/10 It could've definitely used more character development and focus on characters as a whole.

Also , it really needed to choose between more weight or more comedy. It felt a little unbalanced going back and forth between them. While it is definitely okay for movies to have serious moments and funny moments this movie felt like the two were battling each other, not working together. It was like the old Ant-Man movies were trying to break though this new serious tone.

Jonathan Majors as Kang was an absolute highlight. I am very exited to see where they take his character next. Paul Rudd was great as always and the rest of the cast I have no problems with either. However, I will say they definitely wasted William Jackson Harper in this movie. He is such a great actor, both comedic and dramatic. He could've and should've had a bigger role in the MCU. In addition. While M.O.D.O.K was overall entertaining I can't help but feel that the character was wasted.

"In the end though, it is an enjoyable mobie with a lot of laughs and heart. It is worth the watch."

It is also an absolutely necessary watch for any MCU fan. It is the movie that connects most to the wider MCU since Endgame as Kevin Fiege said.

"Of all of our films we've done since Endgame, this is the one that connects most to the bigger picture, and that's what I'm excited about." - Kevin Fiege

Post Credit Scenes

How many post credits are there and are the worth staying for? There are two post credit scenes. Both are worth staying for in my opinion. The first one is very important to see and the second one is also important especially if you are a big MCU fan. Neither are really groundbreaking, but both are important.

Box Office

As of Saturday February 18th Ant-man and The Wasp Quantumania has made $63 million domestically and $52 million international, meaning the total worldwide gross comes to $116 million. It is expected to continue climbing during the weekend and slowly continue in the next few weeks. Compared to the past two Ant-Man films this is very good.
