Although some critics say the third installment of the Gaurdians of the Galaxy was unfunny and pulled too much on the heart strings, the audience, and myself disagree. The movie currently has a very respectable 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Review
This movie is simply a must see. It has amazing action, an emotional story, laugh out load moments, and dives into each character. It manages to balance humor, awesome battles, and incredibly sad and sometimes horrific scenes very well. The new gaurdians fit in nicely and the team still has the same feeling of family as it always has. Although somewhat more violent than the past two installments it is still not unessasarly violent. There is some animal tourture/abuse which is often brief but may be upsetting for some. This movie also featured the first non-bleeped F bomb in a MCU movie. While exiting for some this could also be worrisome for parents. The way the movie tied up the story of each gaurdian was great, but also left room for more story in the future. Although Gunn almost certainly not return for a fourth movie I have a feeling there still will be one which I am exited for as well. Many fans are saying that this movie is proof that the real Marvel is back. Hopefully we will see an uptick in all future Marvel projects quality! Overall
"Gaurdians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 delivers on everything it needs to and leaves the audience satisfied while also tying up the Gaurdians story very well."
Post Credits
There are two post credit scenes, both of which are important and worth staying for. Albeit the first one is much more important and exiting. I would at least stay for the first one and would also recommend staying for the second one if you are in no rush.
Box Office
So far Gaurdians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has made about $52 million dollars and is expected to make between $110-$120 million in it's opening weekend. This is compared to the first Gaurdians film which made $94 million and the second one which made $146 million. Disney/Marvel have recently switched their window of time between theatrical release and Disney Plus release to be longer. Because of this I would recommend seeing it in theaters if you are a Marvel or Gaurdians fan.
