Secret Invasion: Marvel’s First True Disappointment

It seems to be a pretty fanbase wide consensus, Secret Invasion was disappointing. It didn't meet expectations.

Review

The show had much promise at the beginning. In fact, the first 5 episodes weren't even bad nessicarly. However, a bad finale can ruin a good build up. The first 5 episodes seemed to be building to something great, something epic. Instead, all we got was disappointment, although the final fight was a cool treat for MCU fans. There was very little pay off to many storylines being set up at the beginning of the series. In fact, I felt like I had more questions after the show ended than I did when it began. With a season 2 not looking great after the less than great feedback, we may never get answers to some of these questions. This show is yet another victim of the 6 episode format. It was not given enough time, in large part to many of episodes only being around 30 minutes! In addition it is incredibly disappointing to see Samuel L Jackson finally get a solo project to shine in only to be overshadowed by a bad script. However if there is any amazing part of the show it is the stellar cast. In particular Samuel L Jackson, Emilia Clarke, Ben Mendilson, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Olivia Coleman give incredible performances. Overall the show is very important to the overall storyline of the MCU, however, sadly for casual viewers, I would recommend skipping this one and instead reading or watching a recap.

The Agents of Shield of it all

Agents of Shield fans seemed convinced that one saving grace of this show would be the appearance and re-introduction of Daisy Johnson or another Agents of Sheild character in the finale. Sadly this did not happen. However, the speculation of such an event caused a lot of anticipation for the finale on Twitter.
